The Perry County Sheriff's
Office consists of 24 personnel, divided into Patrol, Dispatch, Jail and Administration.
There is a minimum of one patrolman, one dispatcher, and one jailer on duty at all times,
making it possible 24 hour coverage to the citizens of Perryville/Perry County.
Each division of the Sheriff's Office has a supervisor, who answers directly to the
Sheriff. There is no Chief Deputy. The Patrol, Dispatch and Jail divisions are supervised
as follows:
Patrol Division -Supervisor - Captain Delbert Riehn. Oversees operations and
investigations of Patrol Division as well as the Detective operations of the office.
Dispatch Division - Supervisor - Captain James (Jack) Lakenan. Oversees implementation of
the Enhanced 911 system for Perry County as well as serving as coordinator for dispatch
operations of this office with the Perry County Ambulance Service, Biehle Fire Department,
Frohna Fire Department, Altenburg Fire Department and East Perry Fire Department. Oversees
and updates the E-911 database. He can be contacted through this office or at the
courthouse at 573-547-4000.

Perry County Jail. He is responsible for safety, feeding, and medical care of inmates at
this facility, as well as arranging for transport of inmates.
Other key personnel with the Perry County Sheriff's Office are Deputies Jason Klaus, our
School Resource Officer, and Sgt. James Rice, our Canine handler. Deputy Klaus is assigned
to work with school officials at Perry County School District #32, both in providing
security and absentee deterrence, as well as serving as a liaison between the school and
the Sheriff's Office. Sgt. Rice is the Sheriff's Office's K-9 handler, and assists our
office, as well as any other area agencies, with drug searches as well as tracking and
building searches. Eiko, our German Shepard, is also trained in handler protection.
The Perry County Sheriff's Office and Perry County Jail is located at 710 S. Kingshighway,
Perryville Missouri. The current facility was built in 1989, taking the place of the
former Sheriff's Office and Jail located at 217 N. Spring Street, in Perryville. That
facility had been in operation since 1904.
The current facility has a capacity of 40 inmates, and also houses the dispatch operations
and other personnel associated with the Sheriff's Office. We are also home to a Zone
office for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who can be contacted through our switchboard
or by calling the office directly at 573-547-1878.
