Perryville Public Works
The City of Perryville offers a large variety of services through its Public Works Department. Public Works facility is located at 304 S Kingshighway and employs 42 full time employees under 5 departments. The Public Works Director is Charles LaRose and Assistant Public Works Director is Dave Clements. Public Works can be reached Monday through Friday during regular business hours, from 7:00 A.M.- 3:00 P.M. at 573-547-2594 ext. 301 or 302. You can also reach this department by fax at 573-547-3094. Or E-Mail pvillepublicworks@ccilink.net The following services are offered: Street Department Maintains 63.7 miles of city streets and also maintains the Perryville Municipal Airport, located 13 miles north of Perryville. This department offers street sweeping, grading, patching streets, crack sealing, storm water installation, snow removal, maintenance of all City owned buildings, and mowing of the city owned properties including the Municipal Airport. These consist of the cities own properties and the Municipal Airport. This department has 7 full time employees under the direction of Verlin Vernon, Crew Leader. Refuse
Department -
Handles residential and commercial trash pickup in the City Limits. This
department has 5 full time employees under the direction of the Street
Department.

2005 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
1.
Leaves
and Small Yard Waste
must be in
biodegradable paper bags
and placed
at curbside after 5:00 p.m. prior to date scheduled for pickup.
If not placed in biodegradable bags, the leaves/yard waste will not
be picked up. The vacuum
sweeper is available for disposing of leaves in the Fall (watch the
newspaper for details). Please
place leaves in the street next to the curb. 2.
Limbs
and Large Yard/Garden Waste must be stacked at curbside. Do
not tie.
May be in some types of heavy
storage container
at curbside that will not be removed from property. Do not put in paper bags, boxes, or any lightweight
containers. City will chip at
curbside or pick up depending on the amount of limbs.
Limbs may be no larger than eight inches in diameter and four to five
feet in length. No stumps,
logs, or root wads. The City
will not
dispose of limbs cut by a commercial enterprise. 3.
Bulk
trash items
will be picked up upon request only. Must
call by no later than Friday prior to Mondays pick up. 4.
ALL ITEMS MUST BE AT CURB SIDE (no items picked up in alley) NO
LATER THAN 7:00 A.M. ON THE DAY OF SCHEDULED PICK UP, BUT NOT PRIOR TO 5:00
P.M. PRIOR TO SCHEDULED DATE OF PICKUP.

DO NOT MIX OTHER TRASH ITEMS WITH LEAVES OR YARD WASTE.

SCHEDULE ABOVE.
Water Department Maintains and repairs the cities own water system. The City has its own Surface Water Plant on the Saline Creek and has 3 underground wells for its water sources. Their crew maintains approximately 75 miles of Water Main and is working on a full Main Replacement Program under the Current Street Replacement Program. Also under construction is the replacement of the existing Water Plant on the Saline Creek with a new 2.34 million gallon per day plant, 2 new underground wells, and 10 and 18 Transmission Mains. This department has 7 full time employees under the supervision of Carl Davis, Crew Leader and Jeremy Meyer, Head Water Plant Operator. Wastewater Department Maintains the cities owned system and is responsible for cleaning, repairing, and general maintenance. The city owns its own 1.8 million gallon per day Wastewater Plant on the Cinque Hommes Creek. This department has 18 lift stations in various locations. The city owns its own Sewer Main TVing Equipment. This department has 8 full time employees under the supervision of Ronald Berkbuegler, Plant Superintendent. Gas Department Maintains the cities own system and is responsible for the maintenance of the 31 miles of Transmission Main and 48 miles of Distribution Main. Gas is supplied to approximately 3,300 customers. This crew is currently in its last year of cast iron replacement and will have poly and steel mains in the whole system. The city also has a Water & Gas Technician assigned to this department and is responsible for locating all city utilities. The city is a member of The Dig Rite One Call System. This department has 5 full time employees under the direction of Tim Britt, Crew Leader. Also under the Public Works Department is the Vehicle Maintenance Division. This department is responsible for all the cities equipment and vehicles, which also consist of all the Police and Fire Department vehicles.
