Zoning Board of Adjustments

A five member board appointed by the Mayor – approved by the Board of Aldermen – for a five-year term.

 Compensation:  Serves without compensation

Duties/Responsibilities: Functions of this Board are set by state statute.  This Board reviews and decides appeals regarding decisions by the Zoning Administrator, all matters regarding zoning issues, and requests for variances.

 Meeting Date:  5:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Parks/Recreation Board

A seven member board appointed by the Mayor – approved by the Board of Aldermen – for a five-year term.

Compensation: Shall serve without compensation

Duties/Responsibilities:  Develop and maintain facilities and activities for municipal park system.

Meeting Date:  Once a month.

Planning and Zoning Commission

A six member board appointed by the Mayor – approved by the Board of Aldermen – for a four-year term.

Compensation: Serve without compensation

Duties/Responsibilities: Functions of such Board are set by state statutes.  Commission prepares city plan and zoning plan and adopts same.

Meeting Date:  7:30 p.m.; last Wednesday of every month.

Cablecast Board

A six member board.  Three members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen for a three-year term.  Three members appointed by Perry County District #32 School Board for a three-year term.

Compensation: Serves without compensation

Duties/Responsibilities:  Coordinate and govern cablecast policies.  Encourage structural and educational programming for the public through the establishment of a community access channel – Channel No. 7.

Meeting Date:  Twice a year (May and another in the fall)
